Tornado
Compact 16- to 32-channel measurement system
with 24-bit ADC
Overview
This compact, mobile measuring station is ideally suited for both stationary and mobile use. Special features are the fan-less design and the 3-way power supply from AC, DC and battery (V-mount battery on the back of the device for up to 6 hours of autonomous operation).
The station allows installation of up to four Apollo PCI-Express measuring cards. Additional connectors for external GPS system synchronisation and 8x SLOW channels are available.
The Tornado measurement system features an extremely robust design at a moderate weight. The folding carrying handle at the top is suited for transport and installation of the instrument in the filed (e. g. in a vehicle).
The Tornado measurement system is especially well suited for:
- Data acquisition and analysis
- Customized multi-channel vibro-acoustic measuring instruments
- Sound power measurements
- Noise and vibration monitoring
- Machinery and equipment status monitoring
- Acoustic camera
- Quality assurance
- Research and development
The Tornado measurement system is fully compatible with the type-approved Soundbook_MK2 measurement system.

SAMURAI
SAMURAI is our universal software package for the real-time noise and vibration analysis and offers comprehensive evaluation functions for post-processing. SAMURAI includes IEC 61672-1 standard sound level meters and 1/3 octaves according to IEC 61260.
SMT
The SINUS Measurement Toolbox for MATLAB® (SMT) provides the functionality of the globally established engineering tool MATLAB®.
NWWin
With Spectra’s Noise & Vibration Works software for Windows we provide a feature-rich, high-performance engineering tool for the post-process evaluation of sound and vibration measurement data.
µ-Remus
Specifically designed for mechanical engineers this signal analysis software package particularly excels in modal analysis and rotor balancing.
ME’scope VES
Vibrant Technology, Inc’s ME’scope VES software package offers extensive analysis capabilities for modal analyses. ME’scope allows the import of measurement data which were previously exported from our SAMURAI Transfer FRF option.
Technical specifications
The following specifications refer to the Tornado_16L measurement system. The measurement systems Tornado_16B, Tornado 32D and Tornado_32S are not equipped for the use with microphones with ±14V/200V microphone supply. ICP power supply for sensors is available with all Apollo measuring boards.
